We are excited to announce the successful applicants for the Green Team VBS Program Assistant positions and would like to introduce you to Kendra Albak, Adele Akerley, Caitlin Fast and Diana Ueland. There is so much more to just a name though! We want to share with all of you a little bit about the people who will be working hard to plan and prepare for Maker Fun Factory VBS and who will be spending the week of VBS with our kids. Let’s start off with the first blog post of a five part VBS series, and introduce you to Kendra Albak.
Written and submitted by Kendra Albak:
I am a small town farm girl from Saskatchewan and have lived in Winnipeg since 2010. My husband, Steve, and I have been married for almost 8 years and we have one son, Archer, who was born in September. The majority of my time living in Winnipeg has been spent in university, where I obtained a Bachelor of Music (CMU) and a Bachelor of Education (U of W).
I have been a follower of Christ all my life and have been involved in church activities along the way. Steve and I became involved with the music teams at The Bridge not long after we began attending in December 2015. I am so grateful to have found and be a part of The Bridge Church family!
This is my second year working as a part of The Bridge VBS Green Team. Last summer I was looking for a way to become more involved with the church, specifically in working with children, as well as something accommodating to do in my final months of pregnancy! I heard about the job during an announcement at church last year, and knew immediately what God required of me!
This year, I wanted to be involved again, yet I was unsure how to do so with an infant. Thankfully, God opened the opportunity to me again, and - again - I took it immediately!
I am excited to see how God will work this year, in and through the staff, volunteers, and kids! I am looking forward to seeing kids from last year that are moving from participants into leader roles this year. I am also seeking courage, creativity, and openness as I have been given more responsibilities this year.
Stay tuned for more updates as we move through the summer!
